About this work
Monument for the preacher Henricus van Herwerden. Next to his portrait stands a putto with an inverted torch in his hand. On either side of the sarcophagus stand Faith, with a flame on her head, and a mourning putto. On the ground an open Bible, a lamp, writing materials, books and the coat of arms of Amsterdam. Over the representation a six-line verse in Dutch.
