About this work

Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob. Joseph holds a bow. Next to him lies a sheep. To the left of Joseph stands the statue of Minerva who offers Joseph a statuette of the allegorical figure Victoria. All these attributes refer to Jacob's blessing of Joseph in Genesis 49. The print is part of a series on the twelve sons of Jacob and patriarchs of Israel and has a Dutch and Latin inscription.
