About this work
The siege of Damietta in 1219. Oval representation of the ships before the harbors in a frame decorated with armor, sea creatures and various coats of arms. At the top the city maiden of Haarlem with the coat of arms of Haarlem. Angels hold a laurel wreath above her head. In the upper corners more coats of arms. Below the image a poem in three columns of four lines each: Thus lay Damiaet with towers shot down! [...].
