About this work

Three-Day Naval Battle off the English south coast in the First Anglo-Dutch War between the States Navy under Maarten Tromp and the English Navy under Robert Blake, 28 February – 2 March 1653. Centrally the naval battle, in the sky a winged cartouche with the title, top right an inset with a map of the Channel. At the bottom a description of the events flanked by oval portraits of Tromp and Blake.
