About this work

Noblewoman from England, in profile to the left, with hair combed straight back from the forehead and ending on the back of the head in a rolled braid. From the temple hangs the lower hair curled on the shoulders and the back. A plain double-folded neckerchief, under which another that is slightly pleated hangs over the shoulders and the back. Dress with a tight bodice, long sleeves from the armhole straight and from the elbow wide and cut in so that the white shirt(?) is visible. Turned-back undecorated cuffs. Long, pleated skirt that is lifted with the left hand. Foot-length underskirt with a scalloped hem. In the right hand a feather stick fan on a ribbon.
