About this work

Apollo chases the fleeing Daphne, who has been struck by the leaden arrow of Cupid, which drives away love. Her raised arms already turn into branches and leaves and her feet shoot roots. On the left in the background Apollo is struck by a golden arrow of Cupid, which causes love to burn. In the margin a four-line inscription, in two columns, in Latin.
