About this work
Apollo pursues the fleeing Daphne, who has been struck by Cupid's leaden arrow, which repels love. Her raised arms already bear branches and leaves, and her feet take root. On the left in the background, Apollo is struck by Cupid's golden arrow, which ignites love. In the margin, a four-line inscription in two columns in Latin.
