Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Teresa of Avila spoken to by a dove, top right Saint Placidus and Saint Flavia being tortured by pirates, bottom left Saint Bruno the Carthusian with a crucifix from which palm leaves grow, bottom right Saint Fides of Agen being beaten with a club. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 depictions). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints and issued with a separate title page.
