Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Hippolytus of Rome with a palm branch, top right Saint Radegundis of Poitiers in royal mantle and with a crown on her head, bottom left Saint Cassianus of Imola being stabbed by children with writing implements, bottom right Saint Athanasia of Aegina behind a loom. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 depictions). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints and issued with a separate title page.
