Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Clement I who drowns with an anchor around his neck, top right Saint Lucretia of Mérida who is beheaded, bottom left Saint Chrysogonus of Aquileia who is thrown into the water after being beheaded, bottom right Saint Catherine of Alexandria who is carried away by angels. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
