About this work

Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription in Latin and subtitle in Latin and French: top left Mary with the Christ child on her lap who both distribute rosaries, top right Mary with the Christ child on her lap in a cloud above an altar before which a queen kneels, bottom left Mary trampling and driving away demonic beings, bottom right Christ rising from his tomb. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
