About this work
Christ is crucified on Golgotha while bystanders watch. Under the cross lie Mary and Mary Magdalene, and some other women. The criminals are being nailed to their crosses (Matthew 27:38). Christ is offered a sponge with sour wine (Matthew 27:48). Bottom left, soldiers are gambling for Christ's garment (Matthew 27:35). Far right, a centurion points to Christ (Luke 23:47). The print has a Latin inscription.
