About this work

At the top the Baptism of Christ by John the Baptist (patron saint of Gouda) in the Jordan. Bystanders watch, rays shine on the scene from heaven. At the bottom a founder portrait of a bishop with Martin of Tours behind him, surrounded by coats of arms. After the stained-glass window in the St. John's Church in Gouda (circa 1556-57).
