Triumphal Procession of William of Orange, Center Plate

Middle plate of five plates of 'Triumphal Procession of William of Orange' with allegorical representations of the virtues of Prince William of Orange, consisting of: the Christian Virtues, the civil virtues and the military virtues. In this print the Christian Virtues and the Civil Virtues are central. To the left (under the C) an elephant with on its back the personification of Charity with two children by her, one of the Christian Virtues. Around the elephant fly putti and walk other personifications of virtues connected with faith, such as Gentleness (15) and Mercy (16). Next to them walk soldiers and personifications of the Virtues around such as Wisdom (20), Justice (21) and Liberality (23). Above these virtues fly three angels who scatter flowers and hold laurel wreaths. Above in the middle the title of the print and below the image a four-line Dutch verse.
