Triumphal Procession of William of Orange, Right-Center Plate

Plate right-middle of five plates of 'Triumphal Procession of William of Orange' with allegorical representations of the virtues of Prince William of Orange, consisting of: the Christian Virtues, the civil virtues and the military virtues. In this print the last two virtues are central. In the middle of the image the armored William of Orange and the Dutch lion (Leo Belgicus) are depicted on a triumphal wagon with large flags. Around the wagon fly, putti, Fame and Envy with her snake hair. By the wagon stand personifications of virtues connected with the government or the military virtues, such as Magnanimity (29) and Experience (32). The personifications are provided with a number, of which the explanation is in Latin above the image and in Dutch below the image.
