About this work

The portrait bust of the architect Andrea Palladio is revealed by Father Time. A putto illuminates the bust with light rays. In the foreground Fame, holding a laurel wreath and a trumpet. She looks up at Minerva, accompanied by two putti holding up the coat of arms of King George I of England. On the floor to the right, a compass as a reference to Palladio's profession.
