About this work
A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at the fork of the furket (musket fork) on which the barrel rests. With his right hand he presses a lit match onto the hammer (part of the firing mechanism) of his musket. This print is part of the series of 43 numbered prints of musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
