About this work

A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand at the fork of the fork (musket fork) upon which the barrel rests. With his right hand, he brings a lit match to his mouth to blow it clean. This print is part of the series of 43 numbered prints of musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
