About this work

Allegorical representation made for a wedding. The loving couple sits under a round arch in a garden, surrounded by Love, Peace, and the marriage god Hymen. On both sides of the arch the coats of arms of the spouses. In the foreground various putti. Some of them play with spools of thread, presumably a reference to the profession of the husband.
