About this work
The personification Litigation (Lis), a man with a wolf's head, a hell-mouth as belly and screws as legs, sits on a throne. He devours a house offered to him by a litigant (Litigiosus). Next to the throne stand the personifications Neglect of Houses (Negligentia domus) and Wasting of Time (Negligentia temporis). Neglect of the Soul (Negligentia animae) lays the soul of the litigant (Anima Litigiosus) on a rack. The print has three inscriptions (two in Latin and one in Dutch) and is part of an eight-part series on the abuses in litigation.
