About this work
In the center, a fight between the crew of the Dutch fishing boat with skipper and Vlieland fisherman Jonge Kees and the crew of an English fishing boat on August 9, 1652. Their ships are on open water and the men are pelting each other with stones and pieces of wood. Top left is the portrait of Jonge Kees and on the right the awarding of a distinction to Jonge Kees and his crew by the States of Holland. Below, a report of the event, a panegyric, and a legend in Dutch.
