About this work

Display of the Disarming of Mars. Part of the performances held on 23 June 1648 at the Schouwburg in Amsterdam following the signing of the Peace of Münster. The third performance shows how Mars is disarmed by Peace. In the background a Dutch prince looks on. In the caption a verse of four lines in Dutch. Numbered in pen bottom right: 1.
