About this work

The siege and bombardment of the city of Bergen op Zoom by the French army under Löwenthal. In the foreground, victims among the French besiegers. The city was besieged from 12 July and had not yet been captured at the time this print was made. In the title, the 18 has been changed to a 16 with a pen. On the sheet below the plate, the legend 1-37.
