About this work

Extinguishing the severe fire between the Elandsgracht and the Elandsstraat in Amsterdam, caused by lightning on the night of 27 July 1679. From various houses, fire hoses are used to try to extinguish the fire. To illustrate skillful fire fighting with hose fire engines. With a five-line inscription in Dutch and French. Plate 8 in the Fire Engine Book by Jan van der Heyden.
