About this work
Map of the siege of Antwerp in the years 1584-1585 by the Spanish army under Alessando Farnese, the Duke of Parma. Map of the flooded land around the Scheldt between Antwerp and Hulst. Top left an ornamental cartouche with Justice and Peace, decorated with scrollwork and with the coats of arms of Philip II and the Duke of Parma. Top right in the setting with the ship bridge, below the legends A-Cc and 1-40 in Latin. At the bottom plans of the forts and redoubts involved in the struggle. Bottom right two allegorical figures related to Land Surveying or Geometry at the scales.
