About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, shaking a musket (a specific type of firearm) with both hands to remove any powder that may have fallen out of the pan (the powder reservoir). In his left hand, besides the barrel of the musket, a fork (musket fork) and a burning match, ca. 1645. Printed on the reverse with text in French. Free after plate 19 in the instructions for handling the musket in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn. Military affairs around 1600.
