About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) to his mouth and blowing over the pan (the powder reservoir). In his left hand, besides the musket, a fork (musket fork) and a burning match. In his right hand, a powder flask, ca. 1645. Printed on the reverse with text in French. Free after plate 16 in the instructions for handling the musket in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn. Military affairs around 1600.
