Satire on the passivity of the English King Charles I, ca. 1636. The English King Charles I sits asleep on his throne, lulled to sleep by the flute playing and gifts of the Spanish ambassador. On the left the French King Louis XIII tries to wake the king to act on behalf of Charles for Louis of the Palatinate and the other children of the Winter King. The Spanish-sympathizing courtier Lord Cottington tries to stop the French king. In the background the Earl of Arundel returns from the Imperial Diet at Regensburg (1640–1641). In the margin an incorrect explanation of the figures 1–6 in the image. Below the print a text sheet is pasted with texts in 3 columns in Dutch and English.
