About this work
Persecution of the Reformed in France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes on 8 October 1685. Central depiction surrounded by twelve small scenes illustrating the persecution and cruelties against the Reformed in France from 1572. In the central allegorical depiction the personification of the kingdom of France is surrounded by Catholic officials who offer her their riches, including devils, the Whore of Babylon on the seven-headed dragon etc. Each scene has an inscription in Dutch and French.
