About this work
Satirical print on the poverty among the French during the siege of Prague, July 1741. An old woodcut is used for the scene, depicting the final episode from the story of Sorgheloos: a dilapidated interior with Sorgheloos carrying a bundle of corn stalks, Pover at the table, and Poverty preparing food over a fire. A view through a hole in the wall shows Sorgheloos carrying Poverty, pushed by Pover. Below the scene, a poem in two columns followed by the account in three lines of the fate of the French before Prague and Regensburg in July 1741.
