About this work
The first sleigh in the procession. A Frisian sleigh with a groom preceded by two horsemen in armour with torches. Part of a series of twelve plates of the sleigh procession on 24 January 1776 organised by the Leiden society Veniam Pro Laude on the occasion of the Second Centenary of the Relief of Leiden (3 October 1574) and the Foundation of the University of Leiden (8 February 1575).
