About this work
Satirical print on the precarious position of the English in 1780. The English dog tied to a post is beaten by a Dutchman, Frenchman, Spaniard and American. Empress Catherine the Great watches. In the background the British Queen of the Sea is whipped by the American privateer John Paul Jones. In the caption the legend on the numbers 1-6 in the scene.
