About this work

The treasure hunters of Muiden departing in procession towards the place of the alleged treasure. In front a man carries a cross, behind him the German swindler with a holy water sprinkler. Illustration of the story of the deception of the superstitious Catholic lieutenant-colonel Dirk Cornelis van der Meulen by a German swindler, in Muiden on the night of 12 to 13 August 1800. In the margin a four-line poem.
