About this work

Allegorical monument to Prince William V, who died on 9 April 1806. At the prince's tomb, History writes history. A genius inspires her. Bottom left a portrait of the prince in profile to the right, accompanied by a Bible and a map of the seven provinces. Two children stand by the tomb. In the margin an eight-line verse.
