About this work

Small tea caddy of porcelain with egg-shaped body and spreading foot with a modeled band with scrollwork, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze red, green, black and gold. On the shoulder, the rim of the lid and the lid knob a Japanese decorative band in underglaze blue. In the Netherlands a decoration added in enamels. On the belly a wide decorative band with hatching with therein cut out four cartouches with alternately a river landscape with a man in a boat and a flower basket with two insects; around the shoulder scrollwork. The lid with the same decoration. Overdecorated (Amsterdam bont).
