About this work

Tall, slender egg-shaped porcelain pot, painted on the glaze in blue, red, green, yellow, aubergine, and black with two sets of two lobed cartouches staggered above each other, containing rocks, flowers, and butterflies separated by a band of wildflowers against a green ground with black dots. The four seasonal flowers are depicted in the cartouches: peony (spring), lotus (summer), chrysanthemum (autumn), and prunus (winter). A rim of unglazed clay is around the foot; a decorative band with hatching is around the shoulder. Famille verte.
