About this work

Bottle-shaped vase (knobbed bottle) of porcelain, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze blue, red, green, yellow, aubergine, black, and gold. The body is covered with butterflies and flowering plants on a black speckled ground, with here cut out two rectangular cartouches with a bird on a magnolia branch among flowering plants and two persons in a river landscape with rocks, trees and a pavilion; the neck with a decoration in underglaze blue of a band with diaper pattern alternating with a cartouche with a flower in reserve, above that a band with French point with floral scrolls in reserve alternating with a floral spray, on the neck floral sprays with above that a band with hanging leaf motifs with floral scrolls in reserve. Famille verte.
