About this work
In the palace of the sun god Helios, Phaethon asks for proof that the sun god is his father. Phaethon kneels before his father, who sits on a throne under a canopy. To prove his paternity, Phaethon may ask for anything he wishes. The boy then asks for the sun chariot. In the foreground, possibly the personifications of Spring and Summer. Below the image, two pairs of Latin verses. The print is part of an album.
