About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, with a musket (a specific type of firearm) resting on his left shoulder (no. 1), ca. 1600. In his left hand, besides the butt of the musket, a burning match. Plate 1 in the instructions for handling the musket: Corte onderwysinghe op de figuerliicke afbeeldinghe, belanghende t'rechte ghebruyck des Roers.
