A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a specific type of firearm) with his right hand, the barrel pointing upwards, before transferring the weapon to his left hand (no. 3), ca. 1600. In his outstretched left hand he holds a lit match. Plate 3 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur la representation des figures, du droit maniement de l'Harquebuse.
