A soldier, full-length, facing right, placing a musket (a specific type of firearm) on his left shoulder with his right hand, the barrel pointing upwards (no. 32), ca. 1600. In his outstretched left hand he holds a lit match (with the smoke in this second state). Plate 32 in the instructions for handling the musket: Brief enseignement, sur la representation des figures, du droit maniement de l'Harquebuse.
