About this work

Strip of natural bobbin lace, Old Flemish lace. The pattern consists of a wavy vine with flowers and leaves. Halfway a break in the pattern is visible because here two strips are sewn together, where the pattern is mirrored. There is hardly any ground, the motifs are connected to each other here and there with broad short braids and here and there with rows of thinner braids. In the flower hearts and in some leaves decorative grounds are used, with square meshes and round meshes. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, with picots on one side.
