Handkerchief of batiste with embroidery of drop-shaped flowers with a fan of pointed petals attached and a border of bobbin lace with a hanging rosette flower

Handkerchief of batiste with embroidery - plumetis - and finished around with a border of bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace. Square model with a slightly gathered attached strip of lace. The embroidery is located exclusively along the edge of the batiste. The pattern consists of a branch with two drop-shaped flowers which on the bulge are set with a fan of narrow pointed petals. The pattern repeats eight times along each side, with a small variation of the branch with flowers in the corners. In one corner, above the embroidered edge, the letters S and T are embroidered. The edge of the batiste is finished with a drawn thread work border to which the lace strip is sewn. The upper half of the lace strip has no motifs. Along the lower half of the strip, the pattern consists of a scalloped edge of regular arches, with in each scallop a hanging branch with rosette flower. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and a single fine cutout.
