Batiste handkerchief with three flower sprigs in each corner made in shadow work and a border of Flemish lace

Handkerchief of natural-colored batiste with embroidery and around a border of bobbin lace: Flemish lace. The embroidery is located in the corners and along the edges. In each corner stand three flower branches, flanked by two smaller ones. In two corners a large cup flower between branches with forget-me-nots. In the other corners a large rosette flower between finer branches with carnations. The diagonally opposite corners are equal. Along the entire side runs a regularly wavy scroll of openwork forget-me-nots and vine leaves. The border bobbin lace is smooth along the sides and gathered in the corners sewn to the handkerchief. It has a repeating pattern with two broad symmetrical compositions. One composition consists along the underside of a rosette flower under an arch. The other composition consists along the underside of a cloud from which a heart-shaped flower springs between two leaves.
