Handkerchief of batiste with a decorative band of embroidery featuring C-scrolls and diamond shapes and a strip of machine lace with snowflakes

Handkerchief of natural-colored batiste with white embroidery and finished around with a strip of machine-made lace. Square model with straight sides and rounded corners because the strip of lace is gathered and sewn to the handkerchief at the corners. The embroidery pattern consists around of a decorative band of c-volutes, volute vines, diamond shapes and cartouches where fine spiral vines with rosette flowers and fir tree branches lie over them. Along the edges of the batiste a striped pattern was realized by work with drawn threads. Connecting to this openwork border the strip of machine-made Valenciennes lace is attached. The lace pattern consists of two rows of ringed snowflakes and along the underside of thin curved branches with some round buds or leaves attached. The motifs are connected to each other by a hexagonal machine-made lattice ground. The straight underside of the lace strip is finished with picots.
