About this work
Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Scattered motif with three rows of twigs on a fine hexagonal mesh ground, an Alençon ground. A fourth row of twigs is attached to an arch line. Below that a pattern of crossing arch lines creating ovals, accented by leaves and filled with two different grounds: a ground in fine diamond stitch and a ground with radar picots. The underside is finished with an arch border with razor-fine picots, originating from the pattern with ovals. The upper side is edged with a bobbin lace border.
