About this work
Cast iron fireplace plate, with a semicircular top. In the center, a horse running to the right with a Prince of Orange on it, very likely a young William III. To the left, the scene is closed with a tree. Floating above is Fame, blowing a trumpet with a banner with the inscription: VIVE LE PRINCE D'ORANGE. The whole is framed with a border decorated with a pearl border and on both sides a festoon, leafy garlands at the top and bottom. In the leafy garlands at the bottom, the year 1658. The top is crowned with three pomegranates and on both sides two climbing dolphins.
