Hearth plate with Caritas

Cast-iron fireplace plate with a semicircular top. Central figure is the personification of Charity, a seated woman with a child standing against her. To her left stands a child holding up a leafy branch, with a flying bird above. To her right stands a boy holding a spherical object. The right side of the scene is closed off by a tree. The whole is framed by a border decorated with leafy scrolls and a mask at the top. The top is crowned with three knobs, each flanked by a climbing dolphin.
