About this work

Fireplace plate of cast iron, square model. Centrally the personification of Charity, a seated woman with a child on her lap. To her left stands a child, stretching out his arms to her. To the right stands a boy on a globe with a cross, holding a burning heart. The top of the scene is closed with a shell and two draped cloths. The whole is framed with a border, decorated with a pearl border, on the sides with festoons and at the bottom a cartouche with the inscription ANNO 1662. The top was shortened during the casting process.
