About this work
Tablecloth of linen damask, converted into a pillowcase. The symmetrical pattern shows from bottom to top four scenes: 1 The crowned and palm-framed coat of arms of London, showing the St. George's Cross and a quarter with a sword. 2 Crowned prince on horseback, moving to the right. Inscription: GEORGE KÖNIG IN ENGELLAND. 3 City view with houses in the foreground, a river with sailing ships, and in the background ramparts and houses, a pontoon bridge, and towers. Inscription: LUNDEN. 4. Same as 1. Border: symmetrically repeated vine with flowers and volute leaves.
